Wolverine is here to stay! Like stay, stay, stay. On Tuesday, Disney released a new teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine, sharing a new look at the blonde-haired Lady Deadpool — and making a joke about Wolverine’s return.
The minute-long teaser highlights the film’s jam-packed scenes with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and shows another not-so-revelatory look at Lady Deadpool, the film’s newest character. It’s unclear who gets to play Lady Deadpool, but some Marvel fans think it could be Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife, or their good friend Taylor Swift.
Swift had been rumoredto be participating inDeadpool & Wolverine, with fans speculating that she would portray the X-Men character of Dazzler, a superhero who moonlights as a pop singer. (Entertainment Weekly later reported that it’s not Swift in the film.)
A silly Disney joke comes later in the trailer. During one action-packed scene that sees Wolverine and Deadpool crash-land on a minivan, a kid watches in awe and says, “That’s Wolverine!” Deadpool then responds in a snarky voice: “Damn straight it is! Disney brought him back and they’re going to make him do this until he’s 90!”
Filmmaker Shawn Levy, who was nominated for an Oscar for producingArrivaland is best known for directing episodes ofStranger ThingsandAll the Light We Cannot See, directed the film. He previously directed Reynolds and Garner inThe Adam Project. Levy, Reynolds, and Rhett Reese (who has co-written every otherDeadpool) collaborated on the script.
In addition to Jackman and Reynolds, the film stars Rob Delaney, Jennifer Garner, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, and Matthew Macfadyen, among others.
