The Loved Ones, the Philadelphia band who supercharged the pop-punk genre in the mid-Aughts with songs like “Jane” and “The Bridge,” haven’t played a show in nearly eight years. That dormant streak will end when frontman Dave Hause revives the group at the 2024 Sing Us Home Festival.
Set for May 3 through 5 at Venice Island in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philly, Sing Us Home finds Hause playing multiple sets: with the Loved Ones, with his own band the Mermaid, and alongside fellow Philadelphia area native Langhorne Slim and Amythyst Kiah as part of the Hause Family Campfire songwriters round. The Jayhawks share the top slot on the bill with the Loved Ones.
Hause, who blends singer-songwriter vibes with his punk roots on albums like 2011’s Resolutions and this year’s Drive It Like It’s Stolen, and the new song “Over 50 Club,” leaned into that attitude-heavy mix when curating the 2024 festival. In-your-face artists like Strike Anywhere, Mercy Union, and Tim Barry, of the punk group Avail, are all on the bill. Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Sug Daniels, Fire in the Radio, Space Cadet, the Philly vocal collective Fishtown Choir, brass band Ocean Avenue Stompers, and Hause’s bandmate and brother Tim Hause round out the lineup.
Passes for the 2024 Sing Us Home Festival go on sale Friday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m./ET at the fest’s website.
Along with Hause and the Mermaid, last year’s weekend included Drive-By Truckers, Kathleen Edwards, the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, and Catbite.
