Dana Carvey reprised his Saturday Night Live character Church Lady for the first time since SNL‘s post-2016 election show, this time questioning presidential son Hunter Biden (David Spade), as well as former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz and MLB free agent Juan Soto.
Biden, Church Lady said, “is someone who actually isa lot like Jesus, because he also has a dad namedJoseph whose life is made way morecomplicated because of him.”
“Haven’t been here in a while,” Biden began. “I’ve been laying low a littlebit.”
“At least you haven’t been doinga podcast,” replied Church Lady, before chiding him for some of his past behavior.
The recipient of a presidential pardon, Biden told his host, “I thought it was a goodthing for the father to forgivethe son, right?”
Church Lady replied, “Last time I checked, Jesuswasn’t walking around in a robewith no underwear, hanging outwith prostitutes.”
“Uh, I think he was,” Biden countered.
Church Lady mentioned how many Republicans opposed the pardon, prompting Biden to say, “Much like Trump, they went afterme because of my last name andall the illegal things I did.”
“I’ve gone through a lot, but mydad loves me unconditionally, andthat’s the greatest gift of all,” he continued. “Also, to anyone who’s seen anyof those laptop photos, justremember, the camera takes offtwo inches.”
As for Gaetz (Sarah Sherman), Church Lady urged him to repent. “There’s only 17 days left until Christmas.”
Gaetz replied: “You had me at 17.”
And to Soto, who is currently signed to the Yankees but is considering other teams, Church Lady said, “As a Christian, why not spend your time and money helping the needy and the less fortunate?”
Soto answered: “You’re right. Maybe I’ll sign with the Mets.”
