'Too Much' Trailer: Lena Dunham Directs Semi-Autobiographical Rom-Com Starring Megan Stalter

Girls creator and star Lena Dunham is back with a television series, but this time she’s behind the camera rather than onscreen in Netflix‘s Too Much. The rom-com series, starring Megan Stalter, arrives on the streaming service on July 10.

In the official trailer for the show, thirtysomething Jessica (Stalter) is looking for adventure, leaving her life in New York for London. But when she gets there, it’s not as glamorous as she envisioned like “British Jones Diaries” she tells love interest Felix (Will Sharpe) mistakenly referencing the Bridget Jones film and book franchise (Felix makes a Love Actually reference, which is apt as that film’s producers are also involved in the series). Felix is also deemed a “walking series of red flags.” Still, the spark can’t be ignored, and their relationship, whatever form it ends up taking, appears to grow in the clip.

Dunham co-created the show with husband Luis Felber, who, along with Dunham, is an executive producer. In an essay for British Vogue, Dunham detailed the inspiration behind her new semi-autobiographical series based on when she moved to London in 2021 and reflects on her final affair before marrying her husband. “I had prayed to have my lifelong boy craziness lifted from me,” she wrote.

Girls alumni Rita Wilson and Andrew Rannells also star, and guest stars include Jennifer Saunders,Kit Harington,Rita Ora,andJessica Alba. Rounding out the cast are Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Leo Reich, Daisy Bevan, Adele Exarchopoulos, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, Stephen Fry, Kaori Momoi, and Adwoa Aboah.
