All eyes were on Kansas City this past Sunday when Taylor Swift pulled up to the Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears. Since then, Swifties have become fascinated with tight end Travis Kelce, whom the pop star has been rumored to be dating lately. Luckily, they didn’t have to wait too long for a comment from the Super Bowl winner himself, thanks to the weekly podcast Kelce hosts with brother and Eagles player, Jason Kelce.
On this week’s episode of New Heights, the Kelce brothers quickly got into the week’s most talked-about game. “Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy,” Travis commented in between a respectfully playful grilling from Jason. He noted how much of a “rollercoaster” his week has already been since, including paparazzi showing up outside his house.
Swift watched the Chiefs win — and Travis score a touchdown — next to his mom in a private suite. According to Travis, “Everybody in the suite had nice things to say about her — the friends and family. She looked amazing. Everybody was talking about her in a great light. The day went perfect — for Chiefs fans. It was impressive.”
“To see the slow-motion chest bumps, the high fives with mom, to see how Chiefs Kingdom was all excited she was there — that shit was absolutely hysterical,” Travis continued. “It was definitely a game I’ll remember. That’s for damn sure. And then we just slid off in the getaway car at the end. [I] took my Chevelle to the game… having fun breaking all the speed limits in that thing. Shout out to Taylor for coming through and seeing me rock the stage.”
The football star’s pursuit of Swift began this summer after attending the star’s Eras Tour show at the Chiefs’ homebase of Arrowhead Stadium. On an episode of New Heights that followed, he told his brother that he had made a friendship bracelet for her but did not get the chance to meet her before or after the show due to her being on vocal rest. He then publicly invited her to attend a show at Arrowhead in the future. Things escalated in recent weeks, with rumors swirling that Swift and Kelce have begun hanging out.
As noted by Travis and Jason on this week’s episode, everyone has commented on the situation since the romance speculation first began. Even New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick joked about the potential couple on a different podcast, calling Swift the “biggest catch” of Travis’ career. Travis’ own coach, Andy Reid, said he helped “set them up” during a post-game press conference. Travis didn’t confirm or deny Reid’s statements but did point out that Reid knows the Swift family.
The Kelce brothers wrapped up the discussion of Swift, with Travis noting that he’s well aware he brought this attention on himself when he publicly decided to “shoot his shot.” He drew a line in the sand for future discussion of the topic on his podcast and others he often guests on during the football season.
“I know I brought all this attention to me. What’s real is that it’s my personal life,” he said. “I want to respect both of our lives. She is not in the media as much as I am doing this show every week. I am enjoying life. I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend. Everything moving forward — me talking about sports is where I’ll have to keep it.”
Before they swung back to discussions of game plays and stats, Jason commented on how Travis’ jersey sales skyrocketed 400% since the game. “Sounds like Swifties are also part of Chiefs Kingdom,” Travis joked.
