Walton Goggins‘s character on The White Lotus has been kept up at night over (possible) murderous intentions, but in real life, the actor has been sleeping soundly thanks to a new partnership with Calm.

The sleep, meditation and relaxation app has tapped Goggins as the latest celebrity narrator for its “Sleep Story” series. Designed to slowly lull you to bed or help you unwind after a long day, the series features slow-paced, original stories (and excerpts from classic books) that offer an alternative to music playlists or noise machines, for those trying to fall asleep.

Goggins lends his voice to an all-new Sleep Story, titled “The Yard Sale,” which follows the actor as he takes a road trip in search of scoring a hidden gem to bring back from his travels. Like all the stories in the series, the plotline of “The Yard Sale” is purposely kept simple, with enough “action” to take your mind off of your own thoughts, but not so much to keep you overly occupied. As a Calm spokesperson explains, “When many of us drift off to sleep, we often experience what scientists call the ‘cycle of rumination,’ where we get stuck thinking about the day we had, conversations or stressful moments. Our goal with Calm’s Sleep Stories is to gently lull listeners to sleep by giving them something else to focus on — the story.”

And unlike the “tension-filled drama of The White Lotus,” a press release reassures listeners that Goggins’ Sleep Story “promises all the tranquility without the chaos of plot twists or loose snakes.”

“Storytelling has always been a powerful way to connect,” offers Goggins, in a statement. “In our fast-paced world, I wanted to create a Sleep Story that feels dreamlike, helping people slow their minds down by wandering through a yard sale, uncovering hidden treasures. I hope my Sleep Story with Calm guides listeners into a soothing and restful sleep,” he says, “where their imagination allows them to discover and create their own stories… and maybe drop in on the next yard sale they see, where treasures await.”

Calm says they tapped Goggins for his “signature charm and storytelling skills,” which have been on full display in the current season of The White Lotus, in addition to shows like Righteous Gemstones and Fallout. But while the actor earned Emmy nods for his memorable roles in Fallout and Justified, the goal here is to help audiences tune out, rather than keep them on the edge of their seats.

With a focus on rhythm, imagery and flow (and Goggins’ soothing voice), Calm says “The Yard Sale” is designed to help listeners “drift into a peaceful night’s sleep with the help of a little nostalgia, a little humor, and a whole lot of relaxation.”
