Air Jordans are arguably the most famous shoes of all time. The sneaker line — masterminded by Michael Jordan and Nike — has produced some of the world’s most recognizable, sought-after shoes, starting with 1984’s Jordan 1 OG, all the way through to the ongoing Travis Scott x Air Jordan releases.
But there’s a catch with the coveted, stylish sneakers: All the fame means Jordans can be hard to track down. For some sneakerheads, hunting for specific Jordan colorways and collaborations is practically a full-time gig, with countless retail and resale sites scattered across the internet. Not all of them are worth your time (or even legit), which is why we did the digging for you and put together a list of the best places to buy Jordans online.
Ahead, you’ll find tips on how and when to snag fresh Jordans as soon as they drop. And if Nike or other major retailers don’t have the pair you want, keep scrolling for the best places to score them elsewhere online.
How & When to Buy New Jordan Releases (2025)
Most new releases from Nike arrive first on their website for immediate purchase, but some more coveted Jordan drops happen through Nike’s SNKRS app. This app can notify you when buzzy new Jordans are available for purchase, but you’ll often have to enter a SNKRS drawing for a chance to order the more highly anticipated shoes.
One upcoming release we like is the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Medium Olive,” available on Nike.com here starting Oct. 25.

History of Air Jordans
When the first Air Jordans hit the court in 1984, they broke away from the conventional look of basketball shoes, which had been almost entirely white. Their bold colorways drew the ire of the NBA, which deemed them a distraction and banned them, fining Michael Jordan $5,000 every time he wore them during a game. Despite the penalty, Jordan continued to sport the sneakers, a rebellious move that only heightened their allure when they officially launched in stores the following year.
“Before Jordan, sneakers were just for playing basketball. All of a sudden, sneakers became fashion and culture,” said journalist and editor Roy S. Johnson in ESPN’s The Last Dance, the documentary chronicling the superstar’s ascent and legacy.
Since then, Air Jordans have evolved into a lasting symbol of drive and achievement for historians, basketball fans, trendsetters, and athletes alike. From their 1985 debut to the reimagined Jordan 1 OGs, the sneakers have transcended eras to remain among the most sought-after shoes in history.
